And with no further ado, here's the newsitem you requested from the frontpage of www.ericade.net:
From my blog:
"Some of you guys might already been subjected to my streaming-project "The ERICADE Network Radio". The plan behind it is to stream all those Amiga-tunes that was so popular in the early 90s among computer geeks. Those songs mostly come in the Sound/Protracker format .mod, but you do not need an Amiga to play them anymore. If you have WinAmp or any mp3-player that can handle ShoutCaststreams you can listen. It's open 24/7 and will appeal to anyone who likes dreamy synthesizers and really good gamestyle music. No crappy "PC-speaker"-sound here, the Amiga can do better than that!
Today I officially enlisted the station to www.shoutcast.com.
For you that tested this feature before, here's what changed:
- A lot of grooming done. Broken, bad and possibly copyrighted tracks have been removed.
- Some of the more heavy rave/hardcore techno-tracks are gone. (Good riddance!)
- Security, stability and availabilty concerns addressed.
- Should (god forbid!) the service become unavailable, a message stating this plays.
- The official site lists played songs etc. http://www.ericade.net/radio/
- Considering that the sourcefiles are 8bit only, I changed the bandwidth-per-stream to 64 kbps. It still sounds good!
- Changed from 5 to 10 concurrent listeners.
Listen now! http://www.ericade.net/radio/
